Another POV on the Penn State thing…please understand that Penn State
football didn’t turn into something more important and more valuable than
innocent children all by itself. It took rabid fans; players who chose football
first, education second; people and coaches and administrators and fans who
lost perspective about what this fine state school should have been about all
along (education). Unfortunately, when we as a society allow the institution of
college football to become more influential than moral integrity, we all must
take responsibility for its downfall. And that means a few people, relatively
speaking, will feel what they think is suffering or punishment. But in the long
run, the players will play somewhere else, the fans will still have something
to root for, the administrators will retire or go to jail, and the students
will graduate, get fulfilling jobs, marry, have kids and buy four-bedroom homes
in nice communities with good schools. But the molested children will struggle
and suffer every day for the rest of their lives. So, continue to love your
school and be true to your team, but remember its real place in the grand scheme.
